HANNAH ALDRIDGE, FRIDAY 20TH July 2018
After the disappointment of cancelling Hannah’s concert in March, we are delighted to rearrange it.
There are few artists that can truly encapsulate the essence of true Americana like Muscle Shoals artist Hannah Aldridge, whose musical pedigree speaks for itself. Her father is Muscle Shoals legend and Alabama Hall of Famer, Walt Aldridge, who has written songs and produced albums for many of America’s top performers.
Surprisingly, Hannah did not start writing songs until she was at University. Indeed, she trained to be a ballerina in her formative years. Since leaving University she has released two full length albums, ‘Razor Wire’ in 2013 and ‘Gold Rush’ in 2017.
With sounds ranging from blues, to the musical stylings of Muscle Shoals and Nashville, where she now lives, Hannah leaves no inspiration or influence untapped. Her music is at times wild, introspective, celebratory, regretful, boisterous and gentle with depth. It is American music dressed in rags, not rhinestones. Hannah never shies away from honesty. It is folk music with added muscle and American with a PhD! Her Alabama twang mixes with a harder rock edge and her songs are delivered with a burning intensity. You cannot help but be moved by them.
‘Gold Rush’, as with ‘Razor Wire’ may be autobiographical looking at things that have happened in her life, but it is also a specific biography of Southern culture. It’s all about coming through in the face adversity. It is not cliched or obvious, but has real meaning.
As a performer, Hannah holds her audience in the palm of her hand, putting on a stunning show with her strong, clear and emotion packed vocals.
Support Hannah will be fellow American Kate Ellis, whose timeless music reflects a love of classic singer songwriters. Kate released her debut album ‘Carve Me Out’ in 2017 to critical acclaim. W21 Music described it as a remarkable piece of work with a great selection of tunes that could break the hardest of hearts. Kate’s vocals have both a beauty and sadness to them.
