Lynne Hanson & The Good Intentions
LYNNE HANSON & THE GOOD INTENTIONS SATURDAY 25TH APRIL 2020
Growing up in Ottawa, Canada Lynne Hanson started playing guitar as a teenager, eventually working her way to an Award winning debut CD in 2006. Two more albums quickly followed and each garnered critical appraisal. Lynne then took time out, before returning in 2014 with the excellent ‘River of Sand’, which saw her writing mature into a more intuitive and visceral style. ‘Uneven Ground’ followed in 2017 which explored the realm of giving sound advice through song writing and fighting back against the devil within us.
Now she is back with a new album, the excellent ‘Just Words’ which was produced by Jim Bryson. We are delighted to have Lynne and her band, The Good Intentions back at Town Hall Live. An excellent night of music is guaranteed.
At first listen, Lynne’s warm but gritty music leads you to think of the America’s south. It is too tough for folk and too blues influenced for country. Her brand of ‘porch music with a little red dirt, can turn on a dime from a sunshine, blue sky ballad into a full on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next.
Lynne’s live performances are high energy and guitar driven and her songs familiar and comfortable, fearless and strong.
Lynne was a two time Canadian Folk Music Award Winner in 2018 for English Songwriter and Ensemble of the Year with The LYNNes, a two time Indie Acoustic Project Album of the Year for ‘River of Sand’ in 2014 and ‘Uneven Ground’ in 2017. And a past winner of the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award.
For this tour The Good Intentions are Blair Michael Hogan on lead guitar and mandolin and Peter Klaassen on bass. Lynne’s previous performances at Town Hall Live have been a joy and we are sure that this concert will be no different.
Advance Tickets for this concert are priced at £13.50 and can be purchased from Costcutter (Kirton), from Brian on 01652 649230 or from www.wegottickets.com
