Birds of Chicago 7th May (Bank holiday Monday)
BIRDS OF CHICAGO BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 7TH MAY
In so many ways we are a word weary culture, ever searching for ways to communicate in fewer and fewer words and syllables. Our on line, blogged out, you tubed attention spans are truncated and fragmented like never before. BIRDS OF CHICAGO, the collective centred around Jeremy Lindsay (aka JT Nero) and Allison Russell, reassert the simple notion that beautiful words and music can still tap deep veins of emotion.
Birds of Chicago was formed in 2012, when Nero began writing for his vocal star muse. Russell. Both were accomplished singer song writers with projects of their own, Nero with JT & The Clouds and Russell with the acclaimed Canadian roots outfit Po’Girl, but together there was an unmistakable chemistry. JT had found the perfect voice for his rock and roll psalms, whilst Allison moved from being the primary song writer to an interpreter.
Both JT & The Clouds and Po’Girl played Town Hall Live in the early days and Birds of Chicago last played Kirton in 2013. In the five years that have followed, Birds of Chicago have developed a fervent following across America, touring 200 dates a year, sometimes as a five piece band and sometimes as a four piece. They have released three albums and now they come back to the UK to play a short UK Tour.
In addition to Jeremy on guitar and vocals and Alison on banjo, clarinet and vocals, the band is made up of Deren Ney on guitar, Chris Merrill on bass and Nick Chambers on drums. We are privileged that they have chosen to come and play for us.
Support will come from local artist, Luke Todd. Luke pours his heart and soul into his music. With poignant lyricism in his songs, he paints his thoughts in a way that capture how many of us feel, but rarely find the way to express.
Advance Tickets for this concert are priced at £13.50 and can be obtained from the One Stop store in the town, from Brian on 01652 649230 or from www.wegottickets.com
