THE GOOD LOVELIES
‘You hear it said a lot these days that something is greater than the sum of its parts, and yet there is no better way to describe the musical essence of the Good Lovelies’.
Good Lovelies are back in the UK and Kirton for the first time since April 2019 and they are back with a new album ‘We Will Never Be The Same’. We are delighted to welcome back Kerri Ough, Sue Passmore and Caroline Brooks back to Town Hall Live where they will play as a trio. Kerri, Sue, and Caroline are immensely talented vocalists and song writers however, it is their voices, interwoven in harmony that elevates the Good Lovelies from impressive to peerless.
Caroline plays electric and acoustic guitars, Kerri keyboards, banjo, and guitar, whilst Sue plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and percussion. And of course, each will take turns to sing lead vocals.
Over the course of their 17-year career they have covered plenty of stylistic ground, adding tinges of pop and roots to their country-folk core. The girls first got together in 2006 for a one-off performance and have since compiled a catalogue of five studio albums, two EP’s, a Live album and a Christmas collection. Through it all, the unmistakable sound of their intertwined voices has been their sonic anchor.
Their new album is both a return to a more elemental, acoustic based musical platform, reaching back to the early days of the Good Lovelies, as well as an immersive emotional experience crafted by three seasoned songwriters who bring their own real-life stories in all their dynamism and complexity to the fore.
The album offers a perfect balance between a modern production sound and the wholesome musical influences that have made them a household name in Canada. What’s more is that the songs themselves build on the Good Lovelies familiar foundation with a widespread appeal, not only in Canada but in the UK, Europe and Australia.
