THE LAUREN HOUSLEY BAND Saturday 11th December 2021
We welcome back the Lauren Housley Band to Kirton. Lauren and the band headlined Town Hall Live in 2017, just after the release of her album ‘The Beauty of This Life’. Now the band end their tour to promote her latest ‘ The Girl from the North’. It is sure to be a great evening.
‘The Girl from the North’ had gained rave reviews in the National Press, and the first two singles from it have been playlisted on BBC Radio 2. The album has been championed by Bob Harris, who is a great fan of Lauren.
Lauren and her husband Tom Dibb also play in Chorlton Country Club and they last appeared at THL in 2019. Lauren and Tom live in Sheffield with their son Noah, who was born in July 2020. During the Covid 19 lockdown they played weekly livestream sessions, known as Tuesday Night Live, which became popular occasions for her ever growing fan base.
Lauren’s love of music began at an early age, but her career really took off when she met Tom at University. Since then she has honed the craft of storytelling, which she couples with her emotive vocal performances. She released her debut album ‘Sweet Surrender’ in 2015. The album’s first single ‘Ghost Town’ made the BBC Radio 2 play list, whilst the album track ‘The Waiting Game’ was picked up and played by Robert Elms of BBC Radio London.
Lauren was invited to perform at the O2 Arena, London as part of Blues Fest, alongside artists such as Van Morrison and Tedeschi Trucks. In 2019 she was invited to play at a special event in Southbank by Bob Harris. She has also opened for the likes of Jack Savoretti, Van Morrison and Yola.
Her new album deals with love, loss, and the turbulence of growing up and learning about life. She brings a refreshing air of optimism, heart- warming hope and belief in overcoming obstacles.
Joining Lauren on stage will be Tom on lead guitar, Mark Lewis on bass, CJ Hillman on pedal steel and Dan Wiebe on drums. The concert will be an excellent way to re-boot Town Hall Live and our 2021 programme.
Support will come from band member and solo artist in his own right ROBBIE CAVANAGH, who himself headlined THL with his band in March 2020. He is due to release his third album in the autumn.
