ELLES BAILEY Friday 29th October 2021
We are sure it will be third time lucky for this concert. Elles was forced to cancel her December 2019 concert due to ill health, and then her 2020 concert was a victim of Coronavirus.
The rise and rise of Elles Bailey on the UK and European music scene has much to do with her tireless schedule that sees her play over 100 concerts each year. In March 2020 she started out on a twenty three date tour the UK and Germany. Virtually all shows were sold out, but then became a victim of the Coronavirus outbreak. Elles and her band play music that crosses boundaries, blending roots music with blues and soul. She has the talent for crafting, and seamlessly weaving those genres to give her music a contemporary edge.
In February 2020 she won the ‘UK Song of the Year’ Award for ‘Little Piece of Heaven’ at the UK America Awards Ceremony. In the same month she was nominated of three UK Blues Awards by the UK Blues Federation. She won two, being awarded ‘The Blues Album of the Year’ for her superb sophomore album ‘The Road I Call Home’ which was released last year. The second was the prestigious accolade of ‘Blues Artist of The Year’.
As mentioned above ‘Road I Call Home’ was released in early 2019, and Elles followed it up later in the year with ‘Black Top Companion’. Both albums were recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium with Brad Nowell producing. Brad also produced Elles debut album ‘Wildfire’. The bluesy base that served so well on ‘Wildfire’ is still present on ‘Road’, but the latter is decorated with a rich soulful feel and a horn sound to die for. Both have a distinct Anglo-American feel.
‘Black Top Companion’ featured a sublime version on ‘Angel of Montgomery’ along with some session tracks and acoustic favourites from the first two albums. Never, one to stand still Elles set about writing and arranging songs for the follow up album during the pandemic and playing numerous live stream concerts. From these concerts she released a 16 track album of covers called ‘Ain’t Nothing But’. It was released in November 2020.
Elles will be joined on the Town Hall Live stage by her stellar band that includes Joe Wilkins on lead guitar, Jonny Henderson on keyboards, Matthew Waer on bass and Matthew Jones on drums.
We are delighted that the support act will be DEMI MARRINER. Demi has played Town Hall Live twice before with Chorlton Country Club in September 2019 and with Robbie Cavanagh in March 2020. Demi’s personality, passion and emotion is contagious, it is impossible not to be captivated by her. Riding shotgun alongside her unique and outstanding songs are her powerful, emotive live performances.
An Elles Bailey Band concert is the perfect way to end the year and celebrate the Christmas period. Elles Bailey’s star continues to rise. She has the talent, the drive, the band and the product. Every song is fresh and original. Don’t miss her this time around, it may be the last chance to see her at a venue the size of ours.
