SATURDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2023
THE ROBBIE CAVANAGH BAND
Robbie Cavanagh plays self-penned, un-scrubbed tales of heartbreak, love, loss and discovery. When he puts pen to paper he lives by his own words, the more you wrestle with an idea, the more contrived it becomes. He writes with honesty, emotion, and most importantly instinctively. He sings with clear, soothing vocals and a gentle manner, stepping out on stage with his long hair, Levi’s and Stetson and his guitar slung over his shoulder.
A self-confessed devotee of ‘real music’, Robbie is not defined by genres. His rules are good musicians, real instruments, great microphones and performing his songs with emotion capturing the sound not producing it.
May 2023 saw Robbie release his new album ‘Tough Love’. It is the follow-up to ‘To leave/ To be Left’ which was released in 2017. ‘Tough Love’ was recorded live with the musicians he has toured and worked closely with. Those musicians are Tom Dibb (lead guitar), Robert Ruiz (bass) and Dan Wiebe (drums) who will form the band playing at our concert.
Written over the course of the past five years, each track on ‘Tough Love’ explores a new perspective and documents Robbie’s own journey of self-reflection and maturity both as a person and as a song writer.
Bob Harris has been a long-time advocate of Robbie’s work and in 2022 Robbie was presented with the ‘Emerging Artist Award’ at the Americana UK’s Music Awards on London.
Robbie and the band have played on many of the country’s festival stages and have also performed in Europe and America alongside many top artists.
Support will come from Pete Lambert from York. Pete takes his influences from Folk and Americana music. His subtle finger style guitar playing, personal lyrics and heartfelt performances captivate audiences.
