One of the hottest acts to emerge from the gutsier underbelly of Nashville’s music scene, the soulful pairing of Ben DeBerry and Dorothy Daniel have built up a huge fan base on both sides of the Atlantic. They are on tour in the UK for the first time, in a trio format with renowned bass player Geoff Anderson and are one of the main acts at this year’s Maverick Festival.
The Danberrys draw deep from their traditions of bluegrass, country, blues, funk and soul without ever being able to pin them down to just one genre. Rather than responding to a dictated sound, their music displays the near limitless nature of Americana. They offer inspired song writing, delivered with raw emotion, distinct harmonies and dynamic top notch musicianship.
The couple’s musical formation springs from a relationship when they were teenagers. They dated and then went their separate ways until years later. Dorothy had created a sound that inspired Ben and they reconnected. She was a devotee of soul and blues, whilst Ben loved rock and country and the found a common ground in their love of folk music. Now after ten years of marriage and three albums they bring their music to the UK for the first time.
In 2016 they released their latest album ‘Give and Receive’. The musical landscape on it reveals a broad palette of moods and sounds, reflecting the maturity of their song writing and music.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Dennis Ellsworth and Kinley Dowling have had to cancel their UK tour. We have been fortunate to get DANNY BRADLEY, the singer/ guitarist with The Crash Blossoms to play the support slot. It will be a good show.
Advance Tickets for this concert are priced at £13 and can be obtained from the One Stop store in the town, from Brian on 01652 649230 or from www.wegottickets.com.
