Thunder and Rain, Friday 15th March
‘The foot tappingly infectious melodies and tumbling chorus hooks work to sooth and invigorate like clean mountain air’
Thunder and Rain are a four piece band from Golden, Colorado with a love of bluegrass and Americana. The band refer to themselves as ‘mountain made Colorado country’ a term that is a most apt description. They bring their own unique and completely natural style to their songs and there is an edginess in much of what they do, which sets them apart from other bands.
Whilst all the members of this young band are hugely talented, what really defines their sound is the beautiful, dreamy melodies and catchy choruses that are written and sung by Erinn Mae Peet-Lukes,
Erinn formed the band in the autumn of 2011 when she moved to Colorado from New York. She added the classical talents of Ian Haegele on upright bass and vocals, the smooth sound of Chris Herbst on dobro, lap steel and vocals and the upbeat chops from Dylan McCarthy on mandolin.
Thunder and Rain have played across America and Canada, as well as Ireland and now come to the UK for the first time. They are touring hot on the heels of their superb second album ‘Start Believing’. It contains thirteen excellent songs with great arrangements, gorgeous and evocative vocals and top notch instrumentation. Whilst there are plenty of bands around that achieve a pleasant yet easily forgotten sound, Thunder and Rain are a band that will not be easily forgotten.
Reviews of the album were fittingly flattering. RnR Magazine told readers ‘There’s something special about Thunder and Rain. They have a lovely warm, genuine feel that will brighten your day. Maverick Magazine said ‘Imagine The Stray Birds with a bigger sound’. There can be no bigger compliment.
