Blue Rose Code
Blue Rose Code FRIDAY 18TH MARCH 2022
As we know, Ross Wilson started his October THL concert, but was unable to continue due to a sore throat and promised to come back. True to his word he is bringing his band to Kirton for this rearranged date
‘Blue Rose Code’s music is simply not music to listen to, but music to engage to with an emotional transaction that will tear your heart out, dance on it, repair it, replace it and somehow leave you feeling richer for the experience’ – Brian Doig
A nomad, both geographically and musically, songwriter Ross Wilson writes straight from the heart and to the heart. His songs address universal themes of love, loss, travel and home, accepting the past and embracing the future in a deeply personal way. They are variously painted in the vibrant colours of folk, Americana, jazz, country soul, and increasingly, Celtic traditions.
Wilson’s music evokes a meeting of Van Morrison and a young John Martyn with both men shipwrecked with a bunch of Motown Records.
Lockdown was productive for Ross and the band with the release of his fifth album ‘With Healings of the Deepest Kind’ in July 2020 and the release of ‘Live at Celtic Connections in March this year.
‘Healings’ was self-produced for the first time by Ross and takes his emotional honesty to new levels. It is the most fully realised rendition of his singular vision to date. Reactions and reviews for the album have been overwhelming: ‘Healings is ravishingly beautiful. It is an album touched with genius, toiled with experience and, ultimately fused with healing’ -Blabber’n’ Smoke.
As a band Blue Rose Code are one of the best live acts around. They have toured the length and breadth of the UK and wherever they go they leave a trail of fans. They regularly play sold out shows at venues such as The Queens Hall, Edinburgh and Union Chapel, London. They have played at the country’s leading Festivals and have headlined Celtic Connections.
At the beginning of 2022, they will again play the Queens Hall and Celtic Connection, and start their 2022 Spring Tour in Perth and Inverness, before moving South.
Blue Rose Code in Kirton is likely to include lead guitar, keyboards and drums, with Ross on guitar and lead vocals
